Lee Chambers

Earth Sciences New Zealand
(Formerly GNS Science)

Lee is a groundwater modeller and environmental tracer hydrologist with a strong interest in quantifying and reducing model uncertainty to better support water resource development, land-use planning in urban and rural areas, and assessments of vulnerability to sea-level rise and saline intrusion.

Lee also specialises in the field measurement and interpretation of environmental tracer data – including noble gases, helium-4, tritium/helium-3, CFCs, SF₆, and stable isotopes – to investigate groundwater flow and contaminant transport. These tracer techniques are also used to reduce the uncertainty of numerical flow and transport models.
