Tim Naish

Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington

Tim Naish NZAM, FRSNZ is Professor in Earth Sciences at the Antarctic Research Centre, Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. He is Co-leader of the MBIE Endeavour research programmes Te Ao Hurihuri: Te Ao Hou – Our Changing Coast and Te Tai Pari o Aotearoa – NZ SeaRise, and has previously served as a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He is currently Chair of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and a member of its Joint Scientific Committee.

Tim’s research focuses on past, present and future climate change with specific emphasis on how the Antarctic ice sheets respond to climate change and influence global sea level.
